According to gardai, €8,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis was seized at an apartment in Birr and €6,000 worth of heroin was seized from a house in Crinkle.

A Garda spokesman told the Midland Tribune that the raids were carried out by members of the Offaly Divisional Drugs Unit accompanied by uniformed and plain clothes Gardaí.

The first raid was carried out at the apartment in Birr Town Centre. The apartment was searched under warrant. The drugs unit were joined by Customs, who brought a detector dog called Sam with them.
