Offaly GAA seeking new treasurer as Fitzpatrick steps down

Closing date for Offaly GAA officers nominations is November 10
THE Offaly GAA County Board are on the hunt for a new treasurer after Frank Fitzpatrick announced he is stepping down.
Doon club man Fitzpatrick has served two years as treasurer and told County Board officers last week that he will not be seeking re-election at Convention in December.
Living in Portlaoise, Fitzpatrick had a busy time in his role as treasurer as County Board finances were examined by the Revenue Commissioners and they had to go through an extensive process to put their tax affairs in order.
The closing date for nominations is November 10 and it will be interesting to see if anyone is nominated – if not, the County Board will have to get a treasurer in place at their first County Board meeting in the new year.
A new Coaching Officer will also have to be elected as Ballinamere's Carina Carroll must step down under the rule limiting officers to five years in the one position – she will remain on as a full time adminstrator with the County Board and will continue to help run the underage games programme in this role.
The other main officers are likely to be returned unopposed with Coolderry's Tom Parlon and Clara's Padraig O'Meara seeking another year as chairman and secretary.
The other outgoing officers are:
Vice chairperson – Denis Hoctor (Carrig-Riverstown); Assistant secretary – Pat Teehan (Cooldery); Assistant treasurer – Fr Arnold Rosney (Birr); Communications officer – Alex Roe (Clara); Culture Officer – Niamh Clarke (Tullamore); Central Council delegate – Michael Duignan (Durrow); Leinster Council delegates (2) – Declan Ward (Crinkle) and Ciaran Groome (Bracknagh).
