Councillor welcomes fibre broadband works in Offaly town
Offaly Fianna Fail councillor Eddie Fitzpatrick says he is delighted to see ongoing works being carried out by Virgin Media with
the rollout of fibre broadband in Portarlington.
This work includes removing sections of footpath to install ducting for the fibre cabling which will "hugely benefit the town and residents who require high-speed service," Cllr Fitzpatrick said.
"The works are causing certain concern to residents on Patrick Street, Portarlington regarding the removal and replacement of footpath sections and I have received a number of calls from residents in the area."
"I spoke to the foreman working on behalf of Virgin Media and he assures me the works will be completed to a satisfactory standard as agreed by the Offaly County Council area engineer."
He said that "all footpaths will be cleaned and washed when the company have completed the programme of works concludes," Eddie concluded.
