Water restrictions to come into effect in Offaly tonight
Irish Water has advised some Offaly customers that restrictions will be in place on their water supply from 10pm until 6am nightly, starting tonight, Monday, October 8.
Due to seasonal low groundwater levels, and following the record summer drought conditions, water levels in the well supplying the Mountbolus Public Water Supply Scheme are very low. Customers in that area will be affected.
"Irish Water, working with our partners in Offaly County Council, is maintaining water supply to customers by tankering drinking water supplies to the reservoir serving the area. However, to ensure there is adequate water in the reservoir each morning, it is necessary to impose restrictions nightly between 10pm and 6am until further notice," a statement read.
Irish Water asks that customers be conscious of their water use, and conserve water where possible. The public are asked to report any leaks to Irish Water on 1850 278 278.
Irish Water thanks customers for their cooperation and patience during these necessary restrictions.
