Offaly TD calls for emergency relief fund to help with Storm Emma clean-up

The snow has resulted in major disruption on roads

Offaly TD for Sinn Féin, Carol Nolan, has called on the government to set aside additional funding to help with the clean-up in the wake of Storm Emma.

Nolan called on the Government to establish a Relief Fund to mitigate the damage and hardship caused by the once in a generation weather event.

She asked the Taoiseach to provide additional funding for road repairs and an emergency fund for farmers, many of whom have had their work disrupted and seen sheds and equipment damaged by the elements.

Deputy Nolan commended the responses of the emergency services, the Local Authorities and the farming community during the crisis and stated that many farmers will have experienced losses and a fund should be put in place to assist in alleviating any hardship.
