Tullamore hotel steps in to put up nurses and HSE staff
The Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore and the Tullamore Court Hotel have stepped in to help out nurses and some HSE staff from the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore during the current Status Red weather event.
While staff from private and public sector jobs around the country are grounded by Storm Emma and the heavy snow already seen this week, hospital staff and other emergency staff have no choice but to present for work for the safety of patients.
Staff have been travelling the treacherous roads of the region in recent days in order to do their jobs, but now the Bridge House Hotel and Tullamore Court Hotel have offered to help.
Since last night and for the duration of the storm, they are accommodationg a number of HSE staff from the hospital.
"We were delighted to be able to help in any way possible. We have offered a greatly reduced rate for any local HSE and emergency response staff durning these extreme conditions and are doing as much as possible to help them all at this time," a hotel spokesperson told the Offaly Express.
A number of the staff will be back at the hotel tonight to rest in between shifts at the hospital which continues to be busy during the difficult conditions.
