Snow forecast for Offaly
Offaly looks set to be hit with potentially heavy snowfalls and freezing conditions tonight with a Status Orange Weather Warning in place for the county. The Weather Warning comes into effect at 11pm today and remains in place until 11pm on Sunday.
However Met Eireann is warning of 'significant falls of snow' on Saturday night and into Sunday. Accumulations of 4 to 8 cm could occur quite widely with even greater totals possible in some areas. There could also be drifting snow in some areas with brisk winds.
Met Eireann is warning of slippery paths and treacherous roads due to snow accumulation and ice. Temperatures tonight could drop as low as -5 degrees.
It will be mainly dry today but temperatures will still be between just 1 and 4 degrees.
