The first results of the census showed a vacant dwelling rate of 9.7% of in Offaly.
Figures show that 3,003 dwellings were vacant on the date of the Census, April 24.
The 9.7% rate of vacant dwellings in Offaly is well below the national rate of 12.8%. Nationally there has been a substantial decrease in the number of vacant dwellings since 2011 – 13% or nearly 30,000. The overall vacancy rate was 12.8% (259,562 vacant dwellings).
