Trial is taking place at Tullamore Circuit Court
A TRIAL which had just begun at Tullamore Circuit Court this afternoon (Thursday, October 16) was suspended until tomorrow after a juror felt unwell.
A 64-year-old man is on trial for allegedly sexually assaulting a female juvenile on dates unknown between April 28, 2018 and July 3, 2019.
The accused man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victim, was arraigned on Tuesday before Judge Sinead McMullan.
He pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexually assaulting the female, who was aged between eight and nine at the time of the alleged assaults.
A jury of three women and nine men was sworn in and opening remarks were made by Judge McMullan and counsel for the prosecution, Shane Geraghty, BL (instructed by Offaly State Solicitor Sandra Mahon) this afternoon.

One of the jurors became unwell during Mr Geraghty's opening and Judge McMullan rose for a short period and then decided to resume tomorrow morning.
