Appeal launched after fire destroys family home in Offaly and kills two pet bulldogs

A fundraising appeal has been launched after a serious fire destroyed a family home in Offaly, killing the family's two 'beloved' pet dogs.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following report of a fire at a residence in St Cormac's Park in Kilcormac on Thursday evening.

Units from Offaly Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and the fire was brought under control. Gardai say the scene is being preserved for a technical examination. Two adjoining homes also suffered smoke damage as a result of the fire.

In the wake of the fire, a Go Fund Me appeal has been launched for the family who managed to escape the fire with 'just the clothes on their backs and the shoes on their feet' after 35 yeas in the home.

The appeal says that 'two very important family members', two beloved bulldogs, did not survive the rapidly spreading fire. They are described as 'two little bundles of absolute craziness and cuteness'.
