Offaly gardai catch motorists speeding near site of National Ploughing Championships
Gardai in Offaly are urging people to 'keep the ploughing for the fields – not on the roads' after catching multiple motorists speeding near the site of this year's National Ploughing Championships.
Ahead of the National Ploughing Championships, Gardaí from the Offaly Roads Policing Unit are monitoring motorists’ speed through the village of Mucklagh which is adjacent to the site for the ploughing.
Gardai in Offaly posted a number of images of motorists who had been caught over the speed limit in the village with one motorist clocked at 87kph in a 50kph zone.
Gardai are asking all road users, exhibitors, traders, and local residents alike, to respect the 50kph speed limit.
In a post on social media, gardai added, "safe driving keeps our children, residents, and visitors protected. Let’s arrive safely and enjoy the Ploughing."
