Three men at centre of 'lengthy' probe into alleged Offaly assault remanded on bail again

Men remanded on bail at Tullamore District Court

THREE men on assault charges appeared before Tullamore District Court and were remanded on bail again to September 10 next.

Ciaran Mulligan (24), Ballygarret, Clonbullogue, Joseph Mulligan (35), Ballygarret, Clonbullogue and Ethan Kearon (23), Church Road, Clonbullogue, are each accused of assaulting Gavin Young, causing him harm, at Ballyfore on December 8, 2024.

Joseph Mulligan is further accused of possessing cannabis at Ballygarret.

Detective Sergeant David Scahill said a curfew which had previously been imposed on Ciaran Mulligan could be lifted because he would be working nearly every night of the week.

Ciaran Mulligan must also sign on at Portarlington Garda Station and stay out of Edenderry and Rhode.

In the case of Joseph Mulligan, his curfew was varied from 10pm to 11pm.

Ethan Kearon is also subject to a curfew from 11pm and both he and Joseph Mulligan are also to sign on at Portarlington Garda Station.

Sergeant Brendan Kearns told the court that directions from the DPP were still awaited and he sought an adjournment for eight weeks.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded all three on continuing bail to appear in court again on September 10 next.

When the men appeared in court in March Judge Cody was told that gardai expected a lengthy investigation.
