Longford man fined for using four-pronged fork in threatening manner
A man, who used a four-pronged fork in a threatening manner on a public roadway while shouting and roaring abuse at family members, has been convicted and received a hefty fine.
Kieran McNally (35), of Greagh, Drumlish, Co Longford, pleaded guilty at Longford District Court to engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour, and possession of a four-pronged grape on May 16, 2024.
At a previous hearing, Sergeant Enda Daly said Gardaí were alerted to an incident at 3.40pm and Garda Padraig McWeeney observed the defendant being restrained by relatives.
The accused was described as being highly intoxicated and highly agitated on a public roadway near the entrance lane to the family farm.

The defendant broke the gardening tool after striking it off the ground and relatives restrained him until Gardaí arrived at the scene.
Mr McNally also appeared on a separate public order charge that he was intoxicated to such an extent he was deemed a danger to himself or others at 1.30am on March 12, 2024 at Mill Race Park, Drumlish.
The court previously heard that when Gardaí arrived the defendant had to be restrained and arrested.
Mr McNally had two previous convictions, including one for drink driving.
Solicitor John Quinn said his client is attending counselling sessions once a week and he stated Mr McNally is complying with the terms of the 'very beneficial' probation report.
"He is also following through with after care," he added.
Judge Bernadette Owen convicted him and imposed a €350 fine with five months to pay for the March 2024 offence and a €300 fine for the May 2024 offence with 10 months to pay.
