Large company in Offaly given green light

A large company in Offaly has been given the green light for a solar farm to power its facility.

William Grant have been given permission for the development at the Tullamore DEW distillery campus at Ballard on the outskirts of Tullamore.

It will see the construction of a solar PV development to provide electrical power to the existing distillery comprising approximately 4,100 photovoltaic panels on ground mounted frames within a site area of 3.90 hectares

There will also be a transformer station, CCTV security cameras mounted on eight metre high poles, perimeter security fencing (2.4 metres high), internal access tracks and an extension to existing maintenance access track on the site to the solar PV development.

Planning permission was granted by Offaly County Council with nine conditions attached.
