There is 'no truth' in a rumour that a prominent hotel in Offaly is set to close.

For several months a rumour has been circulating in Birr that Dooly's Hotel is going to close.

The rumour began in January when the Racket Hall closure controversy broke out, leaving Roscrea with no hotels.

People in Birr felt very thankful that their town still had two hotels, but some were of the belief that it would not be long before a similar loss was experienced in the town. They also pointed out that Banagher has no hotels either.

However, it was confirmed to The Midland Tribune this week that there is no truth in the closure rumour at all, with our source pointing out that the hotel is doing very well and the rumour has no basis in fact.

This good news should come as a great relief to everyone who loves Birr and wants to see it prosper.
