Man with cocaine found sleeping on a street in Offaly
A young man with what is suspected to be a quantity of cocaine was found sleeping on a street in Banagher, a Garda spokesperson told The Midland Tribune this week.
"At 2.30am on Saturday, June 29," said the spokesperson, "the Gardaí came across a male asleep on Main Street, Banagher. He was arrested under section 4 of the public order Act (intoxication in a public place), which will be dealt with by way of an Adult Caution.
When it's a first offence people can be dealt with by way of an Adult Caution rather than through the courts.
When the young man was taken to Birr Garda Station he was searched and during the search a small quantity of what gardai believe to be cocaine was discovered on his person.
Gardaí are waiting for the results to come back before they proceed further.
