Man dies in Roscrea workplace incident

The man aged in his 50's was pronounced dead at the scene

A man aged in his 50's died after a workplace incident in Roscrea yesterday (Wednesday, May 29).

The tragic incident happened at a water treatment plant close to the town centre before lunchtime.

The man's remains have were taken to University Hospital Limerick for a postmortem and the Health and Safety Authority and Gardaí are investigating the incident.

A spokesperson for Uisce Éireann said it was liaising with the HSA and other authorities following the death.

“It is with deep regret and sadness that Uisce Éireann confirms that a man working on behalf of our contractor has died following an incident this morning,” the spokesperson said on Wednesday night.

“Our thoughts are with the family, work colleagues and friends of the deceased at this very difficult time.”

The HSA said it launched an investigation after being notified of the incident.

“No further information is available at this time,” they said.
