Biggest reason people fail driving test in Tullamore is very surprising

One of the biggest reasons people fail their driving test in Tullamore has been revealed by a veteran driving instructor from the county.

Joe Wynne was speaking on Midlands 103 about the pitfalls people fall into during the test and said "one of the three biggest reasons people fail their test in Tullamore is a thing called progression."

Joe explained that this was basically when those drivers taking the test drive so cautiously thinking they're doing the right thing that they end up driving "too slowly."

Progression is one of the areas drivers taking the driving test can receive marks against them, and ultimately, too many marks results in a failed test.

Joe told the story of "the best student driver" he had at the time three years ago failing the driving test for driving too slowly because he wanted to be "really safe."

"Rather than drive at 50km/h from Clonminch down past the Court Hotel, he drove at 35km/h," he explained.

"You're at risk of someone taking a risk behind you of going to overtake, maybe on the brow of a hill over the railway bridge. This is what has to be taken into account so the testers are right," he added.

"You have to drive to the speed limits that are permitted," he concluded.
