The search for a woman from Laois who was reported missing late last week has been stood down following the discovery of a body in Dublin.
Gardai at Portlaoise had issued an appeal over the weekend seeking public assistance in locating Manuela Afrasinei, 39, who was last seen leaving her home in Portarlington on Friday, April 26.
Gardai and members of Manuela's family expressed deep concern for her wellbeing in a renewed appeal which was issued on Tuesday afternoon.
However, it has now been confirmed that the search has been stood down.
"Following the discovery of a woman's body yesterday evening, April 30, 2024, in Tallaght, Dublin the missing person appeal in respect of Manuela Afrasinei, 39 years, missing from Portarlington has been stood down," said a garda spokesperson in a brief statement issued this Wednesday morning.
Gardai have thanked members of the public and the media for their assistance in recent days.
