Deputy Michael Lowry has confirmed that work has commenced on the development of the Roscrea Enterprise and Community Hub (REACH).

Speaking as work got underway, Deputy Lowry said "I am delighted that the Roscrea Digital Hub has reached the stage where we now have builders boots on the ground.

"It’s a tremendous initiative, that will have a very positive impact on Roscrea. I worked closely with the local committee and worked extremely hard to convince the authorities of the merits of investing €3.5m in the project’

"It has been a long, arduous journey, with plenty of obstacles to overcome. I am pleased that the project is now underway and that it will deliver Educational Training along with Technological and Economic benefits to Roscrea’ he says.

An "aggressive construction timeline" will see works completed in late 2024 or early 2025, he said.

The €3.5-million investment will transform the current vacant space into a vibrant Town Centre enterprise location bringing much-needed investment and opportunities to the town.

Initial funding for the Digital Hub was secured for Roscrea by Deputy Lowry. It is funded under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund through the Department of Community and Rural Development.

This significant funding provides for the development of a Digital Enterprise Hub in the centre of the town, which will act as a catalyst for new job creation and innovation. It will provide a modern, high-quality facility, with space for education and training, enterprise and development, as well as spaces available for lease to start-ups, SMEs and others.

The REACH Board is actively working with a number of organisations that will be anchor tenants and will be launching a call for interested companies who wish to lease space in the near future.
