Guns seized as man and woman are injured in Offaly incident

A man and woman have been hospitalised following a serious domestic incident in Daingean on St Patrick's Day. 

Gardaí attended the scene of the incident on Sunday evening (March 17), after which a man and woman were conveyed to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment for injuries sustained as a result of the incident. 

The woman - aged in her 40s - is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, while the man - aged in his 50s - has since been transferred to St James' Hospital, Dublin for treatment of serious injuries. 

Additionally, Gardaí seized a number of legally-held firearms as part of the investigation.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit, and An Garda Síochána is not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident at this time. 

Investigations are ongoing.
