Mundy pays touching tribute on the passing of his father

Mundy has a paid a heartfelt tribute to his dad Eddie Enright, who passed away on Monday.

The Birr singer said his dad was a 'real one off'. A native of Shinrone, he passed away at Ealga Lodge Nursing Home, in the village where he grew up.

"He was one of my best friends. I could tell him almost everything. We locked horns too! He would have turned 86 in November. I feel very fortunate that he was my Dad for so long," Mundy said in a social media post.

Mundy acknowledged that the last few years were tough for his dad, especially during covid.

"Thanks to all the people who minded him in Ealga and Eliza lodge and in Tullamore and Galway.

"I love you Dad, thank you. X," he said.

The Enright family is well known in Birr and beyond and Eddie met many people through his pub in Birr, and the B&B which he ran with his wife Antionette. He also served for a time as a councillor on Birr Town Council and his brother Tom was a TD and Senator for Laois/Offaly before being succeeded by his daughter Olwyn.

Eddie will be sadly missed by his loving wife Antionette, his sons Niall and Edmond (Mundy), daughter-in-law Sarah, his adored grandchildren Eden and Belle, his brothers Tom (Birr) and Anselm (Dublin), his sister Helen (Portlaoise), brothers-in -law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
