Busy Offaly road closed due to emergency works on bridge

A busy road in Offaly will be closed until further notice to facilitate emergency repairs on a bridge. 

The R400 between Rhode and Rochfortbridge is now closed from the junction with the M6 roundabout at Farthingstown, Rochfortbridge to the roundabout at Coolville north of Rhode Village.

Offaly County Council says the closure is in place to facilitate emergency repairs works to a bridge structure at Derryiron where the road crosses the Yellow River. 

Diversion routes are in place via Tyrrellspass and Croghan.

Offaly County Council says it apologises for any inconvenience caused.
