Gardai say they have arrested a driver in Portlaoise who has been disqualified from driving on a staggering 27 occasions.
Gardai issued a statement with a picture that showed a garda vehicle stopped in front of a blue VW Passat.
“Laois Roads Policing Unit conducting a checkpoint on the outskirts of Portlaoise yesterday evening stopped a vehicle with expired road tax."
"The driver was arrested after giving false details to Gardaí and discovered to be disqualified from driving 27 times previously," Gardai said.
“The driver has been charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court. We remain committed to denying these individuals the access of our road networks,” Gardai said.
