Suspended sentence for Offaly woman who stole large quantity of sport clothing from store
AN Edenderry woman stole sports clothing worth €455 from two stores, a recent sitting of Tullamore District Court was told.
Lisa Collins, St Francis Street, Edenderry, was charged with stealing €255 worth of sports clothing from Heaton's on Dublin Road, Edenderry on March 20, 2019.
She was also charged with stealing €200 worth of sports clothing from Sports Direct, Cloncollig, Tullamore on July 15, 2022.
Judge Andrew Cody was told that Ms Collins had 34 previous convictions, five of which were for theft.
The defending solicitor said his client was pleading guilty.
“She has been in hospital for a few days with a thyroid problem, and is just out. She suffers from very severe mental health issues.
“She suffers from anxiety and depression and has been in and out of hospital because of this. At the time when the Edenderry offence occurred her home had burned down and she had no clothes.”
Judge Cody took the Heaton's offence into consideration. He convicted for the Sports Direct offence and sentenced the woman to one month imprisonment, suspended for two years.
