TWO Offaly hurlers have been named on the third level colleges team of the year. Goalkeeper Liam Hoare, Carrig-Riverstown and forward protege Adam Screeney, Kilcormac-Killoughey have been included on the Electric Ireland High Education Rising Stars team that was announced this week.

Hoare played with University of Galway while Screeney was in outstanding form for University of Limerick as they captured the Fitzgibbon Cup.

The 2026 Team of the Year highlights the exceptional standard of play showcased throughout the Higher Education Hurling Championship. Champions UL, reflecting their dominance, have seven players selected. Mary Immaculate College Limerick are strongly represented with four selections, while University of Galway and Dublin City University Dóchas Éireann each see two of their players included in the final line-up.

Hoare and Screeney are key members of the Offaly senior hurling squad with Hoare in pole position to be in goals for the championship while Screeney's form in attack will dictate much.
