WALSH Island GAA Club have organised a major fundraising event for Good Friday, April 18. Club members will climb Croagh Patrick in Mayo, raising money for ambitious developments at their playing ground.

One of the early clubs to develop full floodlight facilities in Offaly, Walsh Island GAA are upgrading these as well as the fencing around the pitch.

It promises to be a huge community event for the area with the climbers including former club members from all over Ireland as well as in the USA and England.

Walkers will include the main barefoot walkers along with support walkers to carry the sandwiches.

The walkers will erect a memorial plaque at the top of Croagh Patrick in recognition of community members both past and present.

Walsh Island GAA Club wish to thank all for their support and hope that others will back the venture.

Money can be donated to club members or online via the Walsh Island GAA social media pages.
