PLAYER RATINGS: How the Offaly players fared in Joe McDonagh final win over Laois

Jason Samspon - Midfield was a huge problem for Offaly in the first half as Laois' pairing scored eight points from here and also set up other scores. To be fair to Jason Sampson and Eimhin Kelly, midfield is not their natural position, not where they should really be played at this level. They were asked to do a job in a place where Offaly had limited options with Ross Ravenhill just back from injury but not at full fitness. They worked very hard at it but the Laois pairing did inflict too much damage in the first half. Sampson to be fair lasted the full game and did do some very good things on the ball as well as making vital inceptions. Rating – 6
