'He would always stop and talk' - Tributes paid after death of Offaly 'character'
Tributes have been paid in recent days after the sad death of William Davy. Known affectionately as Banjo, William passed away on Saturday, April 27, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in the wonderful care of the staff at Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore.
His RIP.ie notice reads: "Now reunited in Heaven with his wife Rosario, son Alan, daughter-in-law Geraldine, brothers John, Dick and Patsy and sisters Mary, Phyllis and baby Phyllis. He will be deeply regretted and sadly missed by his family; sons William and Ivor, daughters Martina, Michelle and Rosarie, brother Mattie, sisters Kathleen, Betty and Nancy, grandchildren Joanne, Shane, Aaron, Róisín, Conor, Ryan, Gavin, Ava-Rose, Allie-May and Senan, great grandchildren Kayden, Rían, Ciara and Caitlin, sons-in-law Anthony & Robbie, daughter-in-law Aoife, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends."
Tributes from friends, family and neighbours have been flooding in. One read: "Deepest sympathy to all the Davy family on their sad loss. We enjoyed many a chat and a laugh with Banjo, he was a great man to talk about old times, and old memories. May his gentle soul rest in peace."
Another said: "So sorry to hear of Banjo's passing. He was a lovely man, he would always stop and talk always about the old times, bless him. Condolence to the family. Rest in peace, Banjo."
A third added: "Condolences to all the extended Davy family on your sad loss of your Da. Chats with him over the years, a character of Castleview history. May he rest in peace."
Funeral Details:
Reposing at his home (Eircode R45 N289) this Sunday from 2pm to 7pm with Rosary at 7pm. House strictly private at all other times. Funeral Mass on Monday at 2pm in St. Mary’s Church, Edenderry followed burial in the adjoining cemetery. You can also take part in William’s Funeral Mass via the webstream link below.
