A man allegedly tried to run over another man before driving the wrong way down a street in Portlaoise.
Keith Cash, 40, of Danganroe, Castletown is accused of violent disorder, production of article being a hurley and dangerous driving at Market Square, Portlaoise on June 4, 2022.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said gardai received a report of three men fighting in the square at 2pm on the date in question.
Sgt Kirby said the altercation was captured on CCTV and three men including the defendant were identified. He said it would be alleged the defendant produced a hurley in the fight.
He said it would be alleged the defendant tried to hit another man with his van and drove the wrong way down the street.
Judge Nicola Andrews asked if anyone had been injured during the altercation. On hearing there were no injuries, she agreed to accept jurisdiction in the case.
Solicitor Philip Meagher sought disclosure in the case including a copy of any CCTV footage from the incident.
Judge Andrews directed disclosure be handed over and she adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on March 11.
