Free theatre workshop that's 'all about women'

Free theatre workshop that's 'all about women'

Can you contribute to this exciting new production

Offaly born playwright and theatre maker Christiane O’Mahony is working on a new play about female identity and she would like your input. Christiane is inviting Offaly women to come to a free workshop on Tuesday, March 7, the eve of international women's day, from 7pm to 9pm in the Tullamore Community Arts Centre (former Kilroy’s shop), High Street, Tullamore to explore feminine identity further.

The workshop will introduce a segment of Christine’s new play and participants will be encouraged to delve deeper into the script and explore the thematic content in a comedic, honest and provocative way. The evening will provide participants with the opportunity to work with an experienced playwright and theatre professional whilst enabling Christiane’s own creative process.

Christiane has worked as an actor, comedian, writer and musician at both national and international level. She is co-founder of the ‘For the Birds Company’ who toured the highly successful play ‘Sisters of the Rising’ throughout Ireland in 2016. Reviews of her work are consistently outstanding - she has been described as ‘funny, sharp, and original’ by the Irish Times, the ‘best kept secret on the Irish comedy scene’ by the Irish Independent, and ‘Brilliant’ by comedian and actor David McSavage.

So, if you can answer yes to the following questions: Are you a woman over 16 years of age? Would you like to work with an experienced playwright and theatre professional? Would you like to be involved in sharing your story and so be involved in developing a new play? Do you have an object that is meaningful to you, an object that has a story for you? "If so then, we would really, really like to see you on Tuesday March 7 in the Tullamore Community Arts Centre. You do not need to have any experience in theatre, but an interest may help," Chistiane said.

This workshop is being facilitated under the Foundation Arts Projects in association with Offaly County Council Arts Office and is co-ordinated by Brendan Fox.

The workshop is free but booking is essential – to book, call 057 93 57400.
