Lost and found items at a recent Electric Picnic
These simple steps could help a lost phone be returned to you, particularly if you lose it at Electric Picnic or any other upcoming music festival.
Garda crime prevention officer Graham Kavanagh outlined the important steps in the videos below to help people set up their Apple and Android phones to ensure they can be returned if handed it to lost and found, or found by someone who may attempt to return them.
Just taking a few minutes setting up your emergency contacts can help gardaí reunite you with your phone, garda Kavanagh urges.
This then enables gardaí to contact these numbers and assist them in returning your phone successfully.
The message is particularly pertinent to those going to summer music festivals as lost and found services are often chock-a-block with lost items. For example, the lost and found service at Electric Picnic are often left with hundreds of phones, bank cards, wallets, purses, passports, driving licences and a host of other valuable items.
Festival time . Mind those phones.
