Ballycommon Craft Group’s wonderful project on Roscrea’s Book of Dimma is currently on display in Roscrea Library and worth a visit.

The project comprises sixteen mixed media textile works inspired by this historical treasure, and showcases the group members’ impressive range of talents, skills and creativity.

The project started life when ETB tutor Lian Callaghan brought the idea to the group as the subject for their sessions together in Spring 2023, little knowing that it would result in an exhibition that would go on to be shown in both the Nenagh Arts Centre and the Thomas MacDonagh Museum in Cloughjordan.

These exhibitions have brought some well deserved attention to the Book of Dimma and the remarkable heritage of Roscrea, and the group are particularly pleased that their project is now on show in the Book’s place of origin.

To celebrate the occasion renowned author and historian George Cunningham gave a talk in the library last Wednesday evening, sharing his extensive knowledge of the subject with an appreciative audience. Ballycommon Craft Group would like to thank Tipperary Library Services and Tipperary ETB, and are most grateful to George Cunningham for his support of the project.
