Offaly's Chasing Abbey in update to fans as they hit major milestone

Tullamore trio have posted a heartwarming update to fans after reaching a huge milestone.

The Oh My Johnny hitmakers took to social media to celebrate the fact they have reached 100,000 followers on Instagram.

They posted: "We’ve just hit 100,000 followers over on I N S T A. What a wild journey it’s been to this point!! Thank you so so much to every single one of you for all the love and support that you’ve shown us. NEW MUSIC ANNOUNCEMENT COMING V V SOON."

The lads recently released a clip of a new song, a dance version of Lanigan's Ball, another Irish trad tune.

They shared the song to their social media followers along with a clip of a few familiar faces dancing along to the new track.

The famous 'She stepped out, I stepped in again' hook has got the Chasing Abbey treatment and is sure to be another winner with fans.

Lanigan's Ball dates back all the way to 1860 and has been performed by some famous names in Irish music over the years, including Christy Moore.

Chasing Abbey have been having a rollercoaster year with Oh My Johnny soaring up the charts having gone platinum, as well as the trio performing at Electric Picnic and on the Late Late Show on RTE in September. 

They also performed at a meet and greet for young fans in the Bridge Centre in recent weeks and announced an all ages gig in the Phoenix Tullamore on December 23.
