Age Friendly Roscrea's July information session featured a presentation from Physiotherapist, Trish Hassett, from ICPOP (Integrated Care Programme for Older Persons), which is based at the Hospital of the Assumption Campus in Thurles.

Trish spoke to the group about Vertigo and how to manage it and how the condition manifests itself and coping mechanisms to live with it. She also spoke about Tinnitus and the importance of regular exercise as we grow older - in particular, resistance exercises to build muscle strength.

Age Friendly Roscrea have placed notices on the counters of local hardware businesses with a proposed standard they hope tradespeople will follow when engaging with older people.

The basic tenets of the code include giving written quotes for proposed work, keeping appointments made, answering or returning calls, having appropriate insurance, giving receipts and respecting the older person and their property.

To coincide with National Heritage Week, Roscrea Heritage Society will host a Rambling House in Roscrea Courthouse on Monday 14th August at 7pm. Join Fear an Tí Séamus Moloughney for what promises to be a fantastic evening of Ceol agus Craic! Bring a friend & a song. Bígí Linn! Contact Mary on 089 4682164 for more details.

The well attended Tuesday Talk - Age Friendly Roscrea have small cards available in the office with all the details of their new Tradespersons Code of Conduct code which will be handy as a prompt for you if you are asking a trades person to do a job
