Members of the Roscrea Speakers Club - the invite is always open to join the popular club
Roscrea Speakers Club's last meeting was on Thursday 22nd of April and one speech on the night was delivered by Adrian Podkowa, who completed his first speech on his Toastmasters programme as our newest member.
A members first speech is known as an 'icebreaker' and Adrian's speech was taken from the effective coaching Pathway level 1. Larry Lyons positively evaluated Adrian's icebreaker and gave an encouraging review and some practical suggestions for Adrian's next project.
Our second speech was from the other end of the Toastmaster journey and was delivered by Sean Dwan, one of our most experienced members and current President of our Roscrea Speakers club . Sean's objective in this project was to introduce the different types of leadership and to help you identify your preferred style. Tom Delaney positively evaluated Sean's speech.
Evaluating members speeches is a big part of Roscrea Speakers Club and Toastmasters and give the speaker encouragement and suggestions on how to improve for their next project relevant to the stage they are at, and for the evaluator it gives the opportunity to improve listening skills, analysing skills and of course speaking and reporting skills.
In our Sean's Corner section , Teresa Ryan Feehan delivered a beautiful poem entitled 'THE small print' written by the late Paul Ryan - a founder member of Roscrea Speakers Club.
Topiscmaster for the evening was Julie Murphy and here we practice unprepared speaking on a range of topics and finally our end of meeting report was delivered by Una Mooney.
The structure of our meetings affords everyone the opportunity to speak or deliver a report if they so wish.
Our next meeting is on Thursday 11th of May . Please feel free to join us on the night in our meeting room in Rackett hall Hotel at 8pm or through zoom from your own home via meeting link.
We are always seeking to expand our membership as we are only as strong as our members, so exploring what our meetings can offer you how it may benefit you and it comes with absolutely no obligation to join.
Please contact Larry on (086) 8125427 or roscreaspeakers21@gmail.com for further information or meeting link.
