Roscrea Speakers Club provide a friendly space to nurture your public speaking skills
Roscrea Speaker Club's last meeting took place on the March 23 in Rackett Hall Hotel, Roscrea at 8pm where we had two voluntary speeches on the night.
The first from Teresa Ryann Fehan and was from her chosen pathways programme “Presentation Mastery” level 3 and was entitled “ Dry Rain”. Our second speech was from Edel Carey and was from Edels Chosen Pathway programme of “Leadership Development” Level 1 and was entitled “The Daisy Chain”.
Each speaker endeavours to achieve specific objectives in their speech, that are set according to their chosen project and are appropriate to their current level of progress.
Both speeches are then evaluated by fellow members, in this case, Tom Delaney and Maria Brennan respectively.
Tom and Maria gave very encouraging and positive feedback to the speakers while also making a suggestion of how each speaker can progress further for their next speech. Both speeches were hugely enjoyable and educational for all present.
Current affairs topics for what we call “off the cuff” discussion (with no chance to prepare your answer) were provided on the night by Larry Lyons and their section of our meeting always provides great fun and experience.
Finally our end of meeting reports were delivered. Una Mooney delivered our Grammarian report on how we performed throughout the meeting in our efforts to eliminate what are termed “crutch or filler words” in our speaking and Alan Coffey delivered our meetings general evaluation report on how he feels our meeting was conducted and any areas that perhaps we can improve.
Our next meeting is as always in Rackett Hall Hotel on Thursday April 6 at 8pm sharp and is also available through zoom via meeting link from your own home, if preferred.
Guests are always very welcome to join us in person or through zoom from their own home (with absolutely no obligation to join), to see for yourself how the undoubted benefits our club offers can benefit you in your work, private and social lives. Please contact Larry on 086 8125427 or email roscreaspeakers21@gmail.com for more information or meeting link.
