TULLAMORE Stage School Senior Choir travelled to the Young Bohemia Festival in Prague at the weekend and were awarded second place in their competition.

A spokesperson for the Stage School said choirs from all over Europe took part along with choirs from the USA, so to be in the prize winners at such a prestigious festival, is a huge honour and is testament to the standards of excellence these young singers have achieved.

With musical director Regina McCarthy and accompanist Loreta Mackelaite the choir also gave a concert performance in the city which is rich in history and has splendid architecture.

With the assistance of teachers Aisling Minnock and Chloe Todd, the choir enjoyed other activities such as a city walking tour, a cruise on the Vltava River and a parade of all choirs and of course some shopping. A great weekend was had with new friends made and special memories created.
