Five men for Circuit Court accused of assaults in Offaly

All granted legal aid including man earning €700 per week

Men sent to Tullamore Circuit Court

FIVE MEN are scheduled to appear before Tullamore Circuit Court this week accused of offences committed in Offaly last December.

Ciaran Mulligan (24), Ballygarret, Clonbullogue, Joseph Mulligan (35), Ballygarret, Clonbullogue and Ethan Kearon (23), Church Road, Clonbullogue, are each accused of assaulting Gavin Young, causing him harm, at Ballyfore on December 8, 2024.

Those three men are also accused of violent disorder at O'Connell Square in Edenderry on the same date.

Jordan Toland (25), Lios na Ri, Clogherinkoe, Co Kildare, is accused of assaulting Gavin Young, causing him harm, on December 8 last at Ballyfore.

Gavin Young (23), Rathcobican, Rhode is accused of violent disorder at O'Connell Square on that date and assaulting Josh O'Neill, causing him harm.

Garda Stacey O'Brien told Tullamore District Court she served books of evidence on the men and said the DPP had consented for them to be sent to this week's sitting of Tullamore Circuit Court.

Ethan Foley, BL, appeared for Joseph Mulligan, Ciaran Mulligan and Ethan Kearon.

Mr Foley told Judge Valerie Corcoran they had weekly earnings of €700, €650 and €680 respectively.

Judge Corcoran granted them legal aid.

Mr Foley also appeared for Mr Toland and told the court he was on illness benefit and was in receipt of €244 each week. He was also granted legal aid.

Aisling Maloney, solicitor, appeared for Mr Young and said he was on social welfare. He was granted legal aid.
