Retail units and housing development planned for Offaly village

A development of 25 houses and two retail units is planned in Rhode Village, following the submission of a planning application to Offaly County Council in recent days.
The application was submitted by SPJ Foy Brothers Developments Limited.
The development will see the construction of 25 dwellings consisting of eight 3-bed two-storey terrace type houses and 17 2-bed two-storey terrace houses.
Planning permission is also sought for two retail units, foul and surface water drainage works and all associated ancillary siteworks to facilitate this development.
This will include the upgrade of the existing agricultural entrance to a vehicular entrance and provision of access roadway, footpaths and public lighting.
The planning permission application was submitted on September 9 and is still at pre-validation stage, with no due date for a decision on the planning application.
This latest planned development follows a grant of planning permission for apartments and maisonettes in the village in July to Kilros Developments Ltd.
The development at the north-easterly corner of the intersection of the R400 and R441 in Rhode village will consist of 4 one-bed apartments arranged as 2 semi-detached, 2-storey maisonettes and 3 three-bed 2-storey, terraced dwelling houses.
The planned development comes with associated car parking, bicycle parking, bin storage, boundary treatments, private amenity spaces, renewable energy measures, site works and connections to public services.
