A change of management contract after twenty years will result in a new operator at one of the largest leisure centres in Offaly.

Aura Leisure will no longer run the Tullamore Leisure Centre from the end of this month, it has been confirmed.

A statement issued by Aura Tullamore Leisure Centre read: “We wish to inform you that following a public tendering process, Offaly County Council have awarded the management contract for the Tullamore Leisure Centre to another operator who will commence operations on December 1st 2026. After the 30th of November 2026 we will no longer manage the facility.

“It has been a privilege to serve the community of Tullamore and surrounding areas, support your health and fitness journeys, and welcome you through our doors over the past 20 years. We thank you for your loyalty, support, and the community spirit you have brought to the centre”.

The team at Aura Tullamore was acknowledged for working incredibly hard to deliver exceptional service to customers. “We are deeply grateful for everything they have done to help us advance our vision of creating a Healthier Happier Ireland,” the statement added.

“We are grateful to Offaly County Council for their support over the years and we wish the new operator of Tullamore Leisure Centre all the best for the future,” the statement said.

Aura says that all existing memberships, bookings, and scheduled activities will remain unaffected up to 30th November 2026.

For monthly memberships, the last direct debit run will take place on November 1st. No further action is required from members.

For annual Memberships, the unexpired portion of annual memberships (i.e. from December 1st 2026 onwards) will be refunded by bank transfer by the end of November.

An email has been sent to members explaining how they can claim a refund.

Swim lessons will continue up to the end of November as planned with the remaining two weeks of lessons refunded to parents/guardians by bank transfer by the end of November. Details on how to claim refunds were also sent in an email.

For anyone who has an Aura Tullamore gift voucher but has not yet presented it to Aura or has presented the voucher and not used the entire balance, they are advised to visit https://www.auraleisure.ie/tullamore-voucher-refunds/ and submit the required details before Wednesday 11th November 2026 so that a bank transfer can be arranged.

“We are working closely with Offaly County Council to ensure a smooth, seamless transition for all members, customers and staff,” Aura concluded in its statement.
