RTE has launched a competition to find Ireland's Favourite Folk Song and we at the Offaly Express believe that Offaly's anthem should be included.
The Offaly Rover is an addictive song and is synonymous with the county from north to south and all points in between and was particularly popular in the 1980s and 1990s when Offaly were at the top of the GAA world. Many a night (and early morning), groups would spontaneously break into the song while waving their pints in the air in celebration.
