Ten Kinnitty AC members took on the 26.2 mile challenge in extremely wet and windy conditions

THE Dublin City Marathon is one of the biggest challenges on the Kinnitty AC calendar, and this year’s event certainly didn’t disappoint, despite Storm Boelo playing its part in making conditions difficult.

Ten Kinnitty AC members took on the 26.2 mile challenge in extremely wet and windy conditions, showcasing months of hard work, dedication and commitment in preparing for one of the toughest tests in long-distance running.

Leading the Kinnitty AC team home was Anthony Robinson, who produced an outstanding performance to cross the finish line in 2:57. He was followed by Marty Bannon in 3:19 and Kieran Corrigan in 3:36.

The remaining club members also put in fantastic performances, with Edel Hayes finishing in 3:49, Peter Delaney in 3:53, Rob O’Donnell in 3:55, Vanessa Bannon in 4:04, Paul O’Donnell in 4:08, Shane Conroy in 4:14 and Mark Russell in 4:15.

Completing a marathon is a tremendous achievement, requiring months of preparation, early mornings, long training runs and plenty of determination. To see ten club members take on the challenge in such testing weather conditions is a testament to their commitment and the strength of the Kinnitty AC running community.

Kinnitty AC is immensely proud of each and every one of its marathon runners and congratulates them on their fantastic achievements.

Meanwhile, there was further club representation in Tralee, where Noel Flynn took on the Tralee Half Marathon, returning home with an excellent time of 1:54. Well done, Noel, on a superb run!

Back at home, training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm from Kinnitty GAA Grounds. The club’s Autumn Run Club has also got off to a fantastic start, with great numbers turning out to take part.

Kinnitty AC welcomes runners of all abilities, from experienced athletes to those returning to running or taking their first steps into the sport. With a friendly atmosphere, group training and plenty of encouragement, there is always room for another member of the Kinnitty AC family.

Following an incredible marathon weekend, the club looks forward to seeing its members continue to thrive, both on and off the road.
