POLL: Do you think plain packaging will reduce the number of smokers in Ireland?

We earlier reported the fact that Minister of State for Health Promotion and Offaly TD, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy had signed an order that instigated legislation that will mean all cigarettes must be sold in plain packaging from September.

Evidence suggests that in Australia, where similar laws are in place, the numbers of those smoking reduced once the standardised packaging was introduced. 

Others suggest that the measure will have no effect.
