The Polish flag flying at the shrine to Ashling Murphy at the Grand Canal in Tullamore
A POLISH flag has joined its Welsh counterpart at one of the shrines to murdered teacher Ashling Murphy in Tullamore.
The flag appeared on Tuesday at the entrance to Fiona's Way, the main access point to the Grand Canal greenway from the town centre.
Both flags were flying this afternoon at the site where numerous floral tributes and heartfelt messages to the 23-year-old remain in place.
The young Blueball woman was killed while jogging on the canal bank near Digby bridge in Cappincur on January 12 and her death sent shockwaves around the world
The Wales flag (pictured below) was erected by a group of Welsh rugby supporters who were in Tullamore at the weekend and watched the Six Nations match against Ireland in a local public house.
The fans had followed news of Ashling's murder in their home country and decided to pay their tribute to her when holidaying in Tullamore.
They travelled from their accommodation on Sunday morning to pay their respects at the shrine.
