Tubber is to get a long awaited bus shelter as will Clara
Bus shelters for Clara and Tubber have both been approved by the Active Travel Team, senior executive engineer Joe Dooley told this month's meeting of Tullamore Municipal District.
''The contractors are ready to commence.I would see construction begin on those in August, they are relatively straight forward projects so they will move along,'' said Mr Dooley.
Councillor Frank Moran, said he was ''glad to see the two stops in Tubber and Clara.'' He asked Mr Dooley if it would be possible for construction to start soon in order to have them ready for the beginning of the academic year when students attending college from Tubber and Clara head to Moate and TUS Athlone.
Councillor Aoife Masterson agreed and said it would be fantastic for young children, ''if we could have it up and running for the kids,'' she said.
Joe Dooley said he was glad to deliver the news of the long awaited bus stops.''We will put pressure on for these jobs to be finished before the ploughing championships. I can't say for sure until I get a programme. Notwithstanding that, we will be putting pressure on contractors for these projects to commence urgently and get them out of the way before school starts and before the ploughing match,'' he said.

Councillor Sean O'Brien also asked about bus stops for Killeigh and Clonminch.
Responding Joe Dooley said they are on the agenda. ''We will look at those under active travel. We have a long list where bus stops are requested and they will be prioritised as needed, he said.
