Twelve counties face Easter rain warnings as Met Éireann forecasts flooding risk

Showery, heavy rain expected with risk of localised flooding across much of Ireland

Ireland Easter Weekend weather forecast: Met Éireann issues Rain Warnings for twelve counties

Twelve counties in Ireland have been hit with Status Yellow Rain Warnings as Met Eireann forecasts possible flooding with parts of the country set to be hit by heavy rain. 

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast, the worst of the weather for the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend is set to be on Good Friday and Easter Saturday with a slight improvement through the rest of the Easter weekend with some brighter and drier weather at times.

Three separate Weather Warnings as in place that all warn of spells of rain, heavy at time with the risk of localised flooding.

A Status Yellow Rain warning for Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford is in place from 6am on Friday until 6am on Saturday,

A Status Yellow Rain warning for Cork and Kerry is in place and remains in place until 9pm on Good Friday.

A Status Yellow Rain warning for Clare, Galway and Mayo is also in place until 9pm on Friday.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, Good Friday will be a wet and breezy day as widespread showery rain continues. The rain will be heavy at times and may cause localised flooding. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with moderate to fresh easterly winds, strong at times near the west coast.

Wet with showery rain persisting tonight. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees, coolest in the northwest, in light to moderate northeast winds.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, there will be a dull and damp start to Easter Saturday as the rain continues. As we go through the morning the rain will become lighter and patchy as it begins to clear northwestwards. Drier conditions will develop for most areas through the day, although it will remain quite cloudy. Highest temperatures of 8 to 13 degrees in light to moderate easterly winds.

Mostly dry on Saturday night, apart from light outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the west that will slowly clear eastwards. Clearer spells will follow into the west overnight. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with light southeasterly winds veering west to southwest following the clearance of the rain.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, there is some uncertainty in the forecast for Easter Sunday, but current indications suggest outbreaks of light rain will clear eastwards in the morning followed by occasional sunny spells and some well scattered showers. Cloudy conditions look to build from the west in the afternoon with rain following. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze.

Rain will move eastwards across the country on Sunday night, followed by showers and clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees a light southwest wind.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, rain will clear from the northeast on Easter Monday morning and will be followed by sunny spells and showers. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees in a light to moderate southwest wind.
