Offaly players welcome to join 'Young Lions Soccer School'

The hugely successful local Young Lions Soccer School is entering its eighth season in the Midlands and young Offaly players are being invited to join.

What started out as a summer coaching programme for under-8s back in 2012 is now turning out players equipped for National League football. Twelve of the school's under-13 players are signed with League of Ireland clubs and are
competing at national level in the inaugural 2019 FAI National League for this age group.

One player has made it all the way to the Irish Under-13 side and others are likely to follow in the coming months.

The new Young Lions 10 week-Soccer Coaching School 2019 is now open for player-registration. Boys and girls ranging in age from 5 to under-13 are welcome.

There are in total 140 players catered for and at the time of printing, there are only 40 places left to fill.

Players from Laois, Offaly, Westmeath, Roscommon, Galway and Longford are welcome to the Moate Business College sports grounds every Saturday afternoon.

A new departure this year is that the 5 and 6-year-old players will have their own exclusive 60-minute time slot to free-up more coaches to concentrate on this group.

The older players will commence their specific skills coaching and player development programme at 3:30pm for 75 minutes.

Another new initiative is the introduction of an old style Greenfield League Champions League on Thursdays for players ranging in age from 8 years to under-13. Each team will be coached by a dedicated team of coaches under the leadership of an
appointed Team Captain. This will be a 7-a-side League up to a Grand Final. Teams will be fixed.

In advance of registering your child for the 2019 Summer Soccer Coaching Season it is important for parents to appreciate the core values of Young Lions Soccer School.

Those values are Health Promotion through Soccer; Coaching; Education; Soccer and Teamwork.

Player Registration-Forms are available online at younglionssoccerschool@gmail.com or by visiting the Young
Lions Soccer School Facebook page, or by post to Young Lions Soccer School, Ballycumber, Co Offaly R35 W250.

This year the Young Lions Summer Soccer School is taking a four-week mid-season break, to facilitate family holidays, from July 27 to August 17 inclusive.

As usual the school does not operate on Public Holiday weekends.

The season commences on Saturday, May 25, 2019, in Moate College Sports Grounds.
