Callum Stead scored a double to fire Barnet to a 2-1 win at Ebbsfleet in the National League.
Stead landed his first of the afternoon with just two minutes remaining of the first half when he prodded home from six yards.
The 24-year-old netted his second with 70 minutes on the clock to leave the home side facing an uphill task to salvage anything from the game.
Ebbsfleet were handed the slimmest of lifelines in the fifth minute of added time when Dominic Poleon scored a penalty.
However, the Bees saw out the closing moments to land their maiden win of the new campaign and leave Ebbsfleet awaiting their first point.
