Before Mass at Monaincha on Sunday George Cunningham (pictured above) gave a detailed account of the historic site bringing the modern day pilgrims through the centuries of activity from the landscape of the bog and lake through its Christianisation and evolving hermitage and pilgrimage centre to the building of the exquisite Irish Romanesque church; through the many phases of its troubled medieval history to its falling into ruin and then the revival of pilgrimage there.
